The Role

At Unloop, we aim to create opportunities in the tech industry for individuals reintegrating from prison. We are seeking an Operations Director to lead Unloop's grant management, financial reporting, and overall organizational administration. This role offers a unique chance to join a team dedicated to making a difference at the crossroads of technology and social justice.

Responsibilities

Grants Management

  • Procurement of grant opportunities and new funding streams
  • Completion and submission of grant applications, RFPs, and other contract awards
  • Build and maintain relationships with funding partners, serving as the primary point of contact between Unloop and funding partners
  • Provide prompt acknowledgment of awards and gifts to the Unloop community
  • Timely reporting of grant implementation to funding partners
  • Develop and maintain a database for grant tracking including progress reports, budgets, and more

Navigation Support

  • Participant support — Meet regularly with participants as their primary point of contact with Unloop to set goals and manage barriers to completing their educational goals. Guide participants on which educational path best fits their needs, help create a plan for their training, and then support in the implementation of that plan toward successful completion
  • Data Management — Manage a database to track the progress and involvement of participants in Unloop programs and educational services
  • Enrollment — Develop a robust outreach plan to meet enrollment goals, including in-person visits to local organizations, prisons, work releases, transitional housing programs, and colleges. Pay special attention to providing enrollment opportunities for people of marginalized backgrounds
  • Community-building — Facilitate regular community meetings with participants and the larger Unloop community to ensure programming meets participant needs, look for opportunities to strengthen participant voice in Unloop’s strategic direction and operations, and create a dedicated space for participants to connect

Donor Administration

  • Donor Administration – Prepare gift acknowledgment letters for all donations and update donor information in tracking software promptly
  • Donation Deposits – Promptly deposit donations to the Unloop account

Administrative Support

  • Bookkeeping Support - Assist Unloop staff and board with managing expense entries. Partner with the bookkeeper to reconcile financials monthly and respond to the bookkeeper’s inquiries as needed.
  • Board Support - Provide direct support to Unloop’s board of directors by assisting with board meeting preparation, taking notes during bi-weekly board meetings, and supporting with subsequent follow-up action items
  • Communications – Partner with Unloop staff to prepare and execute social media updates, newsletters, and other stakeholder communication. Manage Unloop general email, phone, and voicemail
  • Vendor Management – Pay invoices, manage Unloop vendor relationships and proactively troubleshoot administrative inquiries

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in managing organizational and programmatic operations including reporting on grant activities
  • Experience or aptitude in writing grant reports and proposals
  • Experience in managing budgetary spending
  • Prior experience in grant partner relationship building, prospecting, and strategy development 
  • Strong analysis of power dynamics across elements of identity such as race, gender, and class, and the ability to translate that analysis into providing culturally responsive support to program participants
  • Experience in the re-entry community and knowledge of navigation services
  • Any combination of education, experience, and measurable performance that demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of the position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite

Logistics

  • Location: Greater Seattle area (hybrid)
  • Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Working Hours: Flexible schedule with availability during typical business hours (9-5 PST)
  • Physical requirements: Ability to handle both sitting and screen time for extended periods
  • Travel requirements: N/A

Compensation

  • This position is salaried ($80,000-$100,000) and includes health benefits and generous PTO.
